Apply for
VISA to Malta

Biometric Data Collection
From 14 September 2015 all applicants applying for a Schengen visa must submit biometric data. To apply for visa to Malta applicants have to submit ten fingerprints and a live photo. Biometric data will be stored in the Visa Information System (VIS), which is an IT system that allows the Schengen States to exchange visa data. The main purpose of the VIS is to facilitate the issuance of visas and the control at external borders and to improve safety.

In order to submit their biometric data, all applicants must come to Visa Application Centre of Malta.

It is important to note that in some cases, such as reasonable doubts regarding the identity of the applicant, the consulates will still have to collect fingerprints within this period of time.

Exemptions from the obligation of fingerprinting are provided for:

children under the age of 12; nevertheless, children from 6 to 12 have to appear in person as their live photo is required.
persons from whom the collection of fingerprints is physically impossible;

Visas applied before 14 September 2015 are valid through the period of validity without biometric data.

Step 1
All visa applications are accepted at the Visa Service Centre.

Step 2
Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how much time it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Consulate of the Republic of Malta to decide on.

Step 3
Please go to the link “All about visas” to understand details of Short Stay visas and Long Stay visas.

Step 4
Please ensure you read the security regulation notices before you visit the visa service centres / Embassy.
